Trans-Neptunian Objects

Trans-Neptunian Objects and Creation

Objects orbiting the sun in the outer solar system beyond Neptune are known as Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNO) and are located mostly (70 percent) in what is known as the Kuiper Belt, which is 30 to 50 astronomical units (AU) from the sun. TNO's include Charon, Pluto's largest moon and Quaoar, the fifth-largest TNO.

Creationists have noted the crystalline ice and watery contents of these objects and believe that these may be part of what was referred to in the Book of Genesis as "the waters above." According to the first chapter of the Book of Genesis, the "expanse" separated the "waters below" from the "waters above." Genesis also describes the sun and moon as being inside this expanse, therefore implying that the waters above reached much higher than the Earth's atmosphere.

This ice and watery material also gives evidence for the creationist time frame, as creationists have noted that the crystalline structure of this material would have been eliminated by radiation exposure within 10 million years of geologic time (of the 4.5 billion year evolutionist time frame). Since this icy material is still crystalline, therefore this material should be much younger in actual age and more consistent with the creationist time frame. This younger time frame would strongly contradict the mainstream models for the origin and evolution of the solar system and the universe, including solar nebula theory and the Big Bang Theory, which propose that the solar system and the universe would require billions of years to fully mature to its current state.
