Planetary Ring System Fractal Patterns

Planets that have ring systems feature fractal patterns, such as in Saturn.

Planetary rings are commonly made up of rock, ice, and dust particles ranging in size from microscopic to the size of a house.

The size range of ring particles helps describe the fractal nature of the rings, which also feature gaps between each ring, forming bands.

The rings consist of many small rocky planetary bodies smaller than most moons and some extremely small pieces the size of micrometers to meters.

Because of the large variety of size of the particles and rocks orbiting around Saturn, the rings can be classified as fractal in nature.
