Who was Hud in the Quran?

Religion

Hud (Eber) was one of the earliest prophets of ancient Arabia, described in the 11th chapter of the Quran. Some historians claim Hud is the son of Shaleh or Eber, which would make him an ancestor of the prophet Abraham and Noah.

Other historians believe that Hud was descended from Shaleh's cousin Uz, the son of Aram, making him an Aramean.

The lineage of Hud is uncertain.

According to the Quran, Hud was sent to the people of Ad to preach against their idolatry and promote monotheism, belief in one God. Ad was one of the original Arabian tribes, and were believed to have came from the northeast.

When the people ignored Hud, a drought was sent to the land, and a freezing storm wind killed the unbelieving people, while Hud and the few believers were spared as they prayed to God on top of a rock.
