The hammerhead shark is a unique design from an Intelligent Designer. The carnivorous and predatorial hammerhead shark ranges from 13 to 20 feet in length and 500 to 1,000 pounds. The most prominent anatomical feature of the hammerhead shark is its uniquely-shaped head, and mainstream scientists debate the origin of this anatomy that no other fish or marine animal has. The hammerhead shark is believed to have an enhanced ability to find prey with its uniquely-shaped head. The hammerhead's flattened head is unique among all animals and sensory organs in the head detect electric fields of potential prey. The wide shape of the head is believed to allow the hammerhead to have stronger sensory ability. Their wide-positioned eyes located on either side of the hammerhead give them an enhanced visual range. Sensory organs are spread out across the wide head and allow them to detect electric fields produced by their prey, including sting rays buried under the sand. Hammerheads also can use their head to pin stingrays against the seafloor.
Hammerheads are found in many ocean environments around the earth from temperate to tropical waters offshore and nearshore. Hammerheads are usually independent but sometime species migrate in groups. Colors of the hammerhead bodies range from gray-brown to olive green with white undersides. The hammerhead has sharp, triangular teeth. The hammerhead has a tall dorsal fin among its eight fins. The hammerhead can move its head up and down. Its flexible body can make sudden and sharp turns while swimming. The hammerhead helps to balance the body while moving. Ten species of hammerhead have been identified, and the winghead shark has the widest head in relation to its body. These hammerhead species vary from three feet in length to 20 feet, with 10 to 12 feet being the average length. Hammerheads have small mouths and usually uses its head to sense and prey on bottom feeders on and underneath the sand. Hammerheads commonly swim sideways or tilted to one side, and scientists believe that this is done to save energy and swim more efficiently by reducing drag.
Evolutionists claim that sharks have existed for 420 million years according to the fossil record and hammerheads have "evolved" only within the last 20 million years. This seems like an incredibly long time without changing anatomy and suddenly acquiring the unique head. Evolutionists must explain the origin of the unique hammerhead and its strong sensory ability, its widely-spaced eyes and unique anatomy in general. Creationists assert that the hammerhead is a unique creation designed by an Intelligent Designer.
Hammerheads give live births in the water, like the majority of shark varieties, while 30 to 40 percent of shark varieties lay eggs. Female hammerheads can give live births to 20 to 50 babies at once. However, scientists say that little is known about the reproductive process of hammerheads. Evolutionists must explain why some sharks give live births while some lay eggs like fishes, while creationists assert that each shark variety is a uniquely created animal.
Hammerheads have few predators among other marine animals, but are under threat from humans, who hunt the hammerhead for their meat, which can be sold as a premium in the markets. Hammerhead attacks on humans are rare.
