Science, Mathematics

Grain patterns repeat at multiple scales from sand to pebbles to boulders. The same shapes are repeated infinitely at multiple scales and magnifications, and therefore grain patterns are fractals.

Grains can be shaped rounded, sub-rounded, sub-angluar, anglar, or a mixture of these patterns which are seen at multiple magnifications.
