The Geography of Australia and the Pacific Ocean
by Owen Borville
Australian geography contains the Eastern highlands, central deserts, rock formations, lowlands, and plains, the western plateau, coastal plains, the Great Barrier Reef, the northern Plateau, the southern highlands, the Australia Escarpment, and Great Artesian Basin. New Zealand has mountains and islands. The great deserts and plateaus of western Australia also contain unique rock formations and wildlife while mountains run across the eastern coastline. The western Pacific Ocean contains many volcanic islands with unique terrain.

Australia---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Planation Surface; Great Barrier Reef (ne); Three Sisters Hoodoos in Blue mountains (se) near Sydney; Wave Rock cliff (sw); The Pinnacles desert limestone pillars in Nambung NP (sw), Bungle Bungles range beehive red rock formations=Purnululu National Park in Kimberley, Western Australia (nw); Uluru Rock sandstone monolith (central); Lake Hillier pink algae (sw)
New Zealand-------------------------------
Moeraki Boulders beach concretions (se); Castle Hill Peak (south island)
Pacific Islands--------------------------------------------------
The Pacific Islands are concentrated in the west and south of the ocean. Tall islands are volcanic peaks and hot spots, limestone, some are continental, and short islands are covered in coral reefs but also volcanic. Blue Holes=are limestone sinkholes underwater (Vanuatu), sapphire blue Lagoons (New Caledonia, Cook Islands) water holes (wetlands), waterfalls, mountain peaks, underwater coral and marine life, white sandy beaches, lush forests and jungles, exotic wildlife including birds, reptiles, marine life and fishes. Pacific Remote Islands nm.
Melanesia=Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia (France)
Micronesia=Guam (US), Mariana Trench is (sw) of Guam, North Mariana Islands (US), Wake Island (US), Nauru, Kiribati, Gilbert Islands (Kiribati) Marshall Islands, Palau
