The Book of Corinthians is known as the letter or epistle of Apostle Paul to the Corinthian church, whose members lived in the ancient Greek city of Corinth, located 50 miles west of Athens. Paul was introduced in the Book of Acts as the Jewish official known for arresting 1st century Christians in Judea and who miraculously converted to Christianity upon a vision from Christ. Paul then became an apostle of Jesus Christ and began his ministry and mission trips from Judea and northwest through Syria, Asia Minor, Greece, and Rome. Paul gave instructions and advice to the first century church at Corinth, which was experiencing division and conflict among its leaders about doctrines in the faith. Ancient Corinth was a large, multicultural city with widespread idol worship. Originally founded in the 10th century B.C., ancient Corinth was the richest port and largest city in Greece.

1 Corinthians 1 Grace, Church Division, Power and Wisdom

10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

1 Corinthians 2 Wisdom and Spirit of God

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1 Corinthians 3 Spiritual Wisdom

7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
