Everyone is a Slave. Really.

We are all slaves. Really. Everyone works for someone. Do you work? Your work boss is your master. Are you self-employed? Your customers are your boss and you must serve them. Are you a founder or leader of an organization? Your donors and supporters are your boss and you must serve them. Do you live with family? Your family members are your boss. Are you dependent on government assistance? Government is your boss. Retirement? Pension is your boss. Investor? Your investments are your boss. Homeless? Donors are your boss. So everyone is enslaved to someone. Our eternal boss is God. Without God, there is no life after death. If you want God’s blessings, you must obey God.
In world history, every ethnicity in every part of the world has been a slave. Serfs in Europe, and peasant farm workers in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In the Roman Empire, there were many slaves. In ancient Egypt, there were slaves. However, God’s word says that masters should treat their workers fairly and not harshly. In history, some slaves were treated well and others were not treated well. Those masters that did not treat their slave workers fairly will face God’s judgment. In historical times, slave work was the only way that many people could make a living and feed their family.
Views on slavery throughout history have changed. In today’s world, slavery is considered unfair, cruel, and unacceptable. There are more work options in today’s world and more opportunities to improve education and training. Technology has reduced the need for labor work. However, there are many jobs in the world today where workers are treated unfairly. Many workers today are paid wages so low that it is very difficult to take care of themselves and their families. Economic inflation makes living for low income people very difficult. The few wealthy, the 1 percent, control 99 percent of the wealth and resources. Many people in the world have no choice but to accept work that mimics slavery.
The capitalist welfare system in the world creates very much inequality and produces an economy that very much resembles enslavement of the masses while the few one percent (the owners) control 99 percent of the wealth. The slaves (99 percent) only have access to 1 percent of the wealth and resources. There should be a better effort in the world to reduce inequality in the world so that the people can live fairly and not live in suffering conditions. Slowly, there has been an effort to create a fair system for all Americans and the world.
However, much work needs to be done to make sure that there are equal opportunities in America for everyone. As America has grown, many other ethnicities have come to the USA after white Europeans and African Americans. Latin Americans, Asians, and more from Africa and Europe have come to the United States in hope of a better life. Yet in America, there is still much racism and discrimination among those Americans who are not of white European ethnicity, and specifically fewer opportunities are given to them and the result is inequality.
Non-white Americans must overcome ethnic discrimination in addition to lower average income and must work harder to achieve similar results. So there is opportunity for everyone, but those from low income families and certain ethnicities have a much harder time becoming successful in a world capitalist system where the rich get richer and the poor continue to struggle. There is nothing new about this struggle.
Lower middle income people are much more likely to fall into poverty because of unexpected and unfortunate circumstances. Disease, divorce, death of family members, loss of work, elderly unable to work, deviant choices like drugs and crime are some of the reasons that low income and middle income families fall into poverty easily. There really should be healthcare available to all Americans. The wealthy can overcome these circumstances easier than the poor and middle income Americans. We as a culture should do more to help those in need who are struggling, and support a system that takes care of lower income families and is fair to everyone so that all people have equal opportunity to be successful and no one must live in poverty.
