Biological diversity is more abundant at the equator, but scientists want to know why

The warmer temperatures are the likely factor, as the climate at the poles and near the poles are too harsh for most life. Fewer types of biological forms can survive near the polar regions. The equatorial climate is more pleasant and more types of life can survive there.
Many creationists believe that the pre-Flood climate across the Earth was similar to the climate near the equator today. If so, there would have been more biological diversity and more lush, green environments across the land surface. Evidence of warm climates have been found under the ice layers in Antarctica, giving evidence of a warm climate on this continent in the past.
Many creationists also believe that the events of the Genesis Flood some 4,500 years ago dramatically changed the climate structure on Earth and that a uniform-warm climate on Earth was suddenly changed to the harsh polar climate that we see today with warm climate near the equator.
