Dandelion Seedhead Spiral Fractal Pattern
by Owen Borville
November 15, 2021
Science

The dandelion seedhead has a fuzzy white bulb that features a unique radiating spiral pattern of florets when viewed closer.

The flower stems radiate outward, and the end of each flower stem contains a smaller radiating pattern of florets.

This pattern is repeated at a smaller scale, making the dandelion seedhead fractal in nature.

This seedhead develops into the classic yellow flower head with many florets.
