The Baptism of Jesus Christ by John was recorded in the Gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark and Luke. The baptism occurred at the Jordan River, recorded in Matthew. John thought Jesus should baptize him, but Jesus insisted that John should baptize him "to fulfill all righteousness." As soon as Jesus was baptized, heaven was opened and the Spirit of God descended like a dove while a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love, with him I am well pleased."
Mark also recorded Jesus being baptized by John in the Jordan, Heaven opened, and the Spirit descended like a dove. A voice from Heaven said "You are my Son, whom I love, with you I am well pleased."
Luke also recorded the baptism of Jesus by John. While praying heaven opened, and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove. The Voice from Heaven said, "You are my Son, whom I love, with you I am well pleased."
